Captive Reel Winches
Harken Captive Reel Winches represent a significant leap forward in captive winch design. The result of four years of intense development at Harken Italy's dedicated facility, each winch is tested under real load conditions for a full range of travel on the drum. Harken captives are noted for their lightweight, reliability, clean lines, and powerful sail control. Harken captive winches are designed with varying drum lengths to fit individual project requirements. They are driven by a sealed-inner motor gearbox that is also used by industrial equipment operating in extreme outdoor environments. The modular construction makes these winches easy to service and maintain without removing the winch assembly.
One-Side Access All parts connected to hydraulic or electrical circuitry are positioned on the same side for maintenance. The screw bearings and gear transmission are also located on this side for easy inspection. Twin Feeder Screws Harken's innovative feeder transmission drastically reduces the size of the winch and balances the load on the feeder sheave. The feeder screws and sheave allow line to lie smoothly on the drum, even when slack. Feeder screws are bench-tested for endurance and lubrication-free. Synchronized Transmission Using a simple synchronized transmission, four gears drive the twin feeder screws. A double rail holds the feeder. A simple change of two of the gears allows you to use a different line diameter. Double-Feeder Sensors Two inner magnetic switches are factory set at the feeder's active stroke limits to prevent over-travel. Two outer fail-safe limit switches automatically dump oil back into the tank or cut electricity to the winch. Maintenance All bearings are sealed and lubricated with grease. The main gearbox is sealed and lubricated with oil. The feeder screw nut and feeder skate are made of a self-lubricating composite. Manifolds Optional manifolds come with a small, efficient hand pump for brake release. Strong, space-saving counterbalance valves provide controlled sheet easing. Manifolds can be mounted on the winch or in a remote location.
